A challenging piece…I would be pleased, but perhaps surprised if the author of the Ithacan’s opinion piece engages in discussion, but who knows?
If we consider life in the United States over the past centuries, we will see that vast shifts in cultural behavior norms certainly have occurred. Could it happen again? It would seem to require extraordinary leadership as well as a galvanizing event.
Before any change happens, we first have to be honest and clear about the problems. Our media landscape encourages slogans and virtue signaling, not understanding, resulting in anything but an honest evaluation of issues.
